Rabbi receives antisemitic messages after tree removal

Albuquerque, N.M. – An area rabbi says people have been leaving antisemitic
messages after he asked a high school to take down a tree.

Rabbi Arthur Flicker asked La Cueva High School to take down its bear
tree because he felt it was offensive to non-Christians.

The schools has put up the tree for 27 years. It would collect teddy
bears under it and donate them to children’s charities.

Parents say the tree is not religious.

“It’s a giving season and
that’s what the children are trying to do trying to give to children who are
less fortunate,” one La Cueva parent told Action 7 News.

The rabbi says none of the messages were threatening and some messages
were positive and in support of taking down the tree.
