Portland, Oregon – An act of antisemitic vandalism against a Portland,
Oregon synagogue is under investigation by police.
Rabbi Michael Kaplan of Congregation Ahavath Achim-Sephardic on SW
Barbur Blvd. said someone painted a Nazi swastika, a misspelled reference to
President Obama (Oboma is 666), the number 5 and USA on the building’s
exterior. The graffiti, first spotted early Wednesday morning, has since been
painted over.
Rabbi Kaplan said his synagogue is the most prominently placed of any in
Portland, making it an easy target.
Police came to the scene and filed a report, according to Kaplan.
Sergeant Pete Simpson, a spokesman for the Portland Police Bureau, said there
are currently no suspects or reports of similar incidents.
