Since 2001, Antisemitisme.be compiles antisemitic incidents
recorded in Belgium and
publishes an annual report on antisemitism in Belgium. In this document, you will
find a list of all recorded incidents, our work methodology, thoughts on
anti-Zionism and analysis of the previous year.
Incidents listed and analyzed in this report are those that
were brought to our attention or incidents that racism complaints were filed in
their regard. Naturally, the figures mentioned in the analysis reflect a trend
rather than an accurate picture of antisemitism in Belgium.
As the Jewish community has tragically experienced on
Saturday, May 24, 2014, following the attack against the Jewish Museum in Belgium,
antisemitism is not quantified in numbers only, but also through the essence of
the reported incidents.
As long as the Jewish community rightly feel insecure, as
long as Jewish institutions require protestation, as long as Jewish people can’t walk safely as any other Belgian
citizen when they present distinct Jewish symbols (Kippah, Star of David…),
we must fight antisemitism, and political authorities must use every means to
manage this fight.
