Antisemitic attacks spark community to hire off-duty cops

Chicago — Members of the Jewish community in West Rogers Park are
taking security into their own hands after a series of antisemitic incidents in
their neighborhood.

Residents are kicking-in $25 each to help pay for private security to
patrol their neighborhood.

That security force is made-up of off-duty Chicago cops.

They say they want the added protection after their community was hit
with antisemitic graffiti among other things.

Members of the community say they appreciate the job the Chicago Police
Department is doing and this isn’t a knock on officers. They just wanted added
protection.

A community policing volunteer for the area discourages the extra
officers saying it could complicate investigations.
