Vandal scratches antisemitic message on deli window

Metuchen, NJ – The owner of a Main Street deli is furious after
an incident of antisemitic vandalism hit the front window of the eatery.

“It was just so thoughtless,” said Erica Agliata, the owner of
the Fresco Deli. “We’re just as upset as everyone else is.”

The word “JEW,” a few inches high, is faintly scratched on the
front window, easy to miss if you’re not looking for it, but hard to ignore
once you know it’s there. The deli workers didn’t notice until they had to
clean the window and got a close look. Agliata assumes that it happened
sometime between last Thursday and this Wednesday.

What makes the incident even more confounding is that while they’re the
victims of antisemitic vandalism, the owners aren’t Jewish.

“It doesn’t make sense,” she said.
