192 antisemitic incidents in Berlin in 2014

Police recorded 192 antisemitic incidents in 2014, only 2 less than
last year.

 

Most of the incidents occurred in MITTE (55) and only 3 in Steglitz-Zehlendorf. In
all cases the attackers knew that the victims were Jews.

 

BILD newspaper published this shameful list as a response to inquiry
submitted by Clara Herman (29) from the Green Party in the Senate.

 

The following is the list of incidents committed in relation to the
hatred of Jews:

 

 

January 3: a beer bottle was thrown at a Jew in Lichtenberg.

January 26: Vandals slashed four tires of a vehicle In Oberschöneweide.  The owner of the vehicle was Jewish.

15 February: swastikas were spray painted on the four pillars of the Marx-Engels statue. Karl Marx (1818-1883) was a Jew.

March 13: The guard of the Jewish Hospital was threatened.

April 11: Unknown persons brutally beat a cosmetics store owner in the shopping center ALEXA.

May 2: In Friedenau, vandals sprayed swastikas on apartment door of a woman that works for the “stumbling blocks”.

June 16: 20 fans shouted antisemitic slogans at the end of the World Cup games in which the German footballers played.

July 17: expressions of hatred and death threats against pro-Israel demonstrators during an anti-Israel demonstration.

September 2: Vandals carved a swastika on the hood of a car. The owner of the vehicle was Jewish.

October 23: cyber-attack against the Israeli -German Internet newspaper Onlinemagazins www.haolam.de in WEDDING.

December 21: Vandals destroyed Hanukkah candelabrum that was placed in Ernst-Reuter Square for the holiday.

 

The police succeeded to solve 63 cases (33%) compared to 24% last year.
