2013 Antisemitism report in German speaking Switzerland

The new report  of the FSCI and GRA about antisemitism emphasizes antisemitic trends in Europe and Switzerland. In the report’s documentary section the antisemitic incidents that were recorded in 2013 in the German speaking regions of Switzerland are presented.

The large number of incidents related to antisemitism and the rise in extreme
trends observed in large parts of Europe have caused a sense of insecurity
within Europe’s Jewry. The number of antisemitic incidents recorded in Switzerland’s
German speaking regions was very low though. The far right there is making no
headway. In this month report regarding antisemitism,
which was published by the GRA foundation and the organization of the Jewish
communities in Switzerland (FSCI), one can see that even if the physical
violence there is quite rare, Switzerland is no island of peace and tolerance.

In
the report’s documentary section the antisemitic incidents recorded in 2013 in
the German speaking regions of Switzerland are presented. There were 22
incidents, i.e., 3 less than in 2012. The statements and contents on the
internet were not recorded. They are mostly letters and emails. No case of
physical violence has been recorded.
