Herne
– Unknown persons spilled brown and white paint on the monument
commemorating the Holocaust in the Willi-Pohlmann square.
The
municipal workers discovered the damage on Monday morning, February 24th,
2014, and informed the police about it. The Herne municipality filed a
complaint with the police. The motive for the act is still not known. The
Mayor, Horst Schiereck, hopes the police find the culprits before long. The
Holocaust monument commemorates the Jews who were murdered during the
Holocaust. The monument was inaugurated in the Willi-Pohlmann square in January
2010.
