National Front candidate tweets antisemitism

Paris
– In a Tweet written by Luc Le Garsmeur on Saturday, the National Front candidate
for the municipal elections in the Tenth Arrondissment of Paris, attacks the
philosopher Alain Finklekraut and the journalist Claude Askolovitch because
they are not “pure French”.

“Those
who talk about ‘pure French’ are themselves not pure French. Amazing?” wrote
the candidate in a tweet while quoting the philosopher and the journalist.

Claude
Askolovitch reacted immediately and denounced the candidate as “a scheming
Antisemite from the National Front” and asked the National Front President,
Marine Le Pen and her deputy, Louis Alliot, whether the Parisian candidate “is
outlining the National Front new guiding line.”

“My
comment is not antisemitic. I only wanted to suggest a different thinking
regarding the use of the term “pure French” and I thought that this term should
not be used anymore” the candidate explained to metronews. “I was nice
and I explained what I had said, but I do not intend to apologize” he added.
