– The Latina municipality has hardly had the time to clean up the
inscriptions denying the holocaust that appeared on the front of the San
Domenico auditorium, and already the neo-Nazi vandals acted again: yesterday
night they covered with swastikas, Celtic crosses and Nazi symbols the old
Jewish quarter “La Giudea”.
The
route of the antisemitic inscriptions starts at San Benedetto Street, which
leads to dell’ Olmo Perino Street, where the arc that has been there since the
middle ages marks the free entry to the residence area of the Jewish community,
which was never segregated in a ghetto throughout the fifteen decades of its
presence in Fondi. The number of inscriptions increases the closer one gets to “The
House of the Spirits”, the ancient synagogue, and to the houses facing the
courtyard, where the Hebrew writing on the tourism sign and the stone tablets
on the entrance gate where covered with red and black paints.
