Vigil in front of synagogue in protest of Nazi graffiti

Following
the spray of a yellow Star of David by unknown persons, 120 residents of the
city of Salzburg participated in a protest vigil in front of the Lasserstrase
Synagogue in Salzburg.

The
demonstration was organized by Randisek Thomas, a member of the Federation of
Salzburg Cultural Sites. Unknown persons had vandalized the iron doors at the
synagogue’s front by spray-painting yellow Stars of David on them. Marko
Feingold, President of Salzburg’s Jewish community, expressed deep shock
regarding this act. He welcomed the participants and during the demonstration told them his life story. Feingold, who in May celebrated
his 100th birthday, has survived four concentration camps.
