Saint-Maur-des
Fossés, Paris – on
the night between Saturday and Sunday in the La Varenne Saint-Hillaire
neighborhood in Saint-Maur-des Fossés,
(Val de Marne), blasphemous inscriptions were sprayed on the two windows of the
kosher grocery store of the Naouri group. The store
manager discovered the inscriptions Sunday morning when he opened the store.
On
one side the word “JUD” together with the Star of David was sprayed. On the
other side a few words that could not be deciphered were sprayed: “SALU”,
“CHIE” and another word, maybe “CAVE” (cellar). The inscriptions were erased
promptly.
The
police and several elected officials visited the place. Right and Left denounce
the act as “antisemitic” and expressed their support of the Jewish community.
Michel Dluto, the President of the Jewish community in Saint-Maur La Varenne
expressed concern because of the act. “There is no need to start a fire even if
these are facts that should be reported.” The manager of the Naouri store was
not interested in commenting.
