Antisemitic jokester has foolproof excuse

John Whitbeck, the Virginia Republican who made a rather nasty Jewish joke at a rally for Ken Cuccinelli yesterday, explains today that he is being unfairly maligned:

“At yesterday’s rally, I told a joke,” Whitbeck told the Times-Mirror Wednesday. “I did not tell an antisemitic joke. I told a joke I heard from a priest at a church service.”

Well, that settles it! A clergy member would never disparage members of a different religion.
