Montgomery, Ala. – The fate of Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act stirred the rally into being, and near the end of a discursive, nearly hour long speech Friday, Louis Farrakhan gave his reason for defending it.
Farrakhan’s remarks at Friday’s rally
On Jewish people:
“They are powerful. They are influential. But God wants to break their hold on you. Why is that? You are the children of Israel, the real children of Israel, who have been in bondage for 400 years, in a strange land.”
On alleged Jewish power:
“I just don’t like the way they misuse their power. And I have a right to say that without being labeled antisemitic.”
