Bremen – after imposing a boycott on Israeli products in Bremen, the organizers of a controversial event on the subject of anti-Semitism forbade a Jewish teacher and a student from entering the venue of the event, Villa Ichon. They both declared that they are Jewish. The event was organized by a number of peace activists and the Leftist organization “Links Der Weser” in Bremen.
Teacher Néomi K. (age 26): “for some feeble reasons we were barred from entering. They told us that we should have registered in advance.”
K. and her friend Maor S. (age 31), had participated before in a protest vigil against antisemitism that took place at the front of the villa. “Later on we wanted to listen to the talk.” says S. Maor.
S: “I said I was a Jew from Israel and that I wanted to go in.”
But matters deteriorated. Néomi K. “The guard shouted at us.” She remembered that he said: “In fact everything belongs to you, including the media.” This is a widespread claim among antisemites. “I asked him if he meant the Jews, but he did not answer.” Another guard tried to downplay the significance of the remark, but the matter was completely clear.” says K.
The leftist organization distances itself from the incident. Christoph Spehr, the district spokesman, says: “We were sorry to hear that people from within our organization were part of this incident.”
