Attack motivated by antisemitism

Vitry Sur Seine   the Office for Monitoring Antisemitic Incidents informs us that on March 17, 2013 around 14:50 a young Jewish man (17) was attacked in the suburbs train C in the Vitry/Seine station. The young man was wearing a yarmulke and a Tzitzit.

According to the victim (.J.C.) he was attacked inside the train by three men in their twenties, two of whom were of dark complexion, probably of African descent. They assaulted him, threatened to kill him and shouted towards him: “Why does Israel do it to Palestine… Muhammad Merah was right when he did it…today I am going to act like Muhammad Merah… we will kill you, Jews… one day I am going to kill a Jew.”

The act was carried out in the presence of a credible witness who confirmed that the assault had occurred the way the young man described it.

According to the victim, only the witness’s presence prevented the incident from deteriorating.
