Marseilles – a 20-year-old young man who was exiting the Saint-Charles train station this afternoon around 15:30, was accosted by several people who then beat and robbed him, while uttering antisemitic-type insults. The young man was first approached by a person who got off a scooter and snatched his gold chain. When he noticed the Star of David on the piece of jewelry, the robber shouted “Dirty Jew” before fleeing. Another group that heard this exchange approached the victim, and again insulted him, harassed him and stole his MP3 player as well as 100 Euros.
The prosecution has affirmed that the aggression was of antisemitic nature and the Safety Department is charged with conducting the investigation.
