Editor of Jewish publication receives antisemitic note similar to downtown posters

Winnipeg -The editor of the Winnipeg Jewish Review says she received an antisemitic email similar in nature to posters that recently resurfaced downtown.

Rhonda Spivak said she received an email night that contained a poster recently spotted on Broadway, which alleged Mayor Sam Katz and other members of the city’s business community are involved in “questionable transactions.”

These posters were similar to ones that were put up downtown last month, except the new iteration has 13 names crossed off.

Winnipeg police are now investigating the postering incidents.

Spivak said the text of the poster refers to the names as needing to be terminated, which could be seen as threatening.

Spivak also said the email contained the phrase “Never again,” which is commonly used by Holocaust educators.

This is the second time Spivak has received an email like this. She said the first time she received one was when the first set of posters were put up.

Spivak said she’s disturbed that whoever is behind the emails and posters does not seem to be worried about being caught.
