Antisemitism in Turkey: “Seven Wealthy Jews Control the World”

Thirteen Turkish publishing companies have printed the book “Mein Kampf” over recent years. The printing companies’ efforts were not unrewarded: Turks have purchased more than a million copies of the book. In an article relating to the phenomenon, the ‘Standard’ newspaper reported today that more and more people unashamedly proclaim that “Hitler didn’t kill enough Jews”. The Turkish journalist attempts to explain why antisemitism is on the rise, especially now. “The famous book written by Hitler is still sold like ‘hotcakes’. The average Turk on the street will reveal the big “secret” to you: “Seven wealthy Jews control the world”. The article’s author, Erdil Balci, claims that “most Turks believe that “the whole world is against Turkey”, and also sarcastically remarked that Turks believe the Armenian genocide to be a fallacy.

The historian, Mrs. Aisha Hur does not reject the possibility that the exit from the European Union will be preempted by an additional process- that Islamism will gradually distance Turkey from European values.
