Anti-Semitic Graffiti on Church

Atterwasch – The police reported on Monday that anti-Semitic slogans and extreme right wing symbols were sprayed on Saturday night on the Evangelical Church in Atterwasch.

“A neighbor arrived on Sunday morning and told me that I have to see what happened to the church” said Mathias Berndt, the priest of Atterwasch and the spiritual leader of the Evangelical Church in Cottbus.  Anti-Semitic slogans were sprayed on large sections of the church door and one of the walls. The police have begun an investigation.

Mass was celebrated in the Atterwasch Church as planned on Sunday morning, accompanied by a Jewish-Christian religious ceremony and a lecture on Jewish life in Berlin during the National-Socialist period.
