Kröpelin – Unknown persons caused heavy damage to the cemetery in Kröpelin, the restoration of which had ended last May. This is the only Jewish cemetery that was restored and renovated by the government.
And here are the mayor, Hubertus Wunschik, and the representative of the Jewish community, Rostock, standing in front the ruins. The unknown persons acted with extreme violence: 13 tombstones were knocked down, several graves were shattered, a memorial monument was torn off and two signs were heavily damaged.
Mayor Wunschik and an anonymous person, each promised a €250 prize to anyone who can lead the investigators to arresting the perpetrators. The organization of the Jewish Communities reacted and said that “this is a case of the most contemptible vandalism and very regrettable.” Nothing should be added to this assessment.
