A young Jewish girl was with some friends at an ice cream bar when she was approached by a young girl who she did not know. 15/05/2012 Chisick, West London

The victim is not Jewish but his great grandmother is and he is in the process of converting. He spoke to the Chabad about this and asked if they would send him a Kippah for his great grandmothers funeral. When the Kippah arrived it was in a clear bag from the Royal Mail which said sorry that your post was damaged, and inside the envelope containing the Kippah had been torn open and a swastika was drawn on the envelope.

17/05/2012 Stamford Hill, London

A Jewish couple were walking late at night when they were approached by two girls, one of which approached the wife and said “are you married?” the wife stepped back to get out of her way and the girl got angry and made a fist, drawing back her arm ready to strike but the husband grabbed her hand and pushed her back away from his wife. The girl then shouted “you Jewish bitch” at the wife and her friend held her back and told her to leave them alone. There was an altercation and the girl spat at the husband and it was claimed he spat back at the girl. The girls then walked off towards their house.

A witness saw the attack and followed the girls to their house, saw them enter and then went back to the Jewish couple to let them know and tell them to call the police. When the police were called they went to speak to the girl and a police woman came back to the couple and said that it was the girls seventeenth birthday and that she was drunk and apologised, saying she would not do it again.

She asked the victim to drop the charges and he said he would, however, then the policeman came over and said that this is not the case and that the girls were counter claiming that they were racially abused by him.

The wife had called her mother who came down to stay with the daughter and they were all taken to the police station to make a statement, however, the husband was arrested for antisocial behaviour and racial assault. The girls had claimed that as they were walking along, the husband had called them “whores” in arabic. They then said he told them to “go back to your own country” in Hebrew and called them “Muslim terrorists”. The couple did not know that the girls were Muslim and thought they were white and therefore told the police, why would they say that?

The husband was arrested for the night and kept in a cell for fifteen hours. He has now been released on police bail. While he was in, his wife brought him Kosher food and prayer books, however, he was only allowed some of the food and only one prayer books.
