Ultra-orthodox teenage girl brutally attacked

Williamsburg – Volunteers of the “HaShomrim” and “Hatzala” organizations were called out yesterday (Sunday) in the early evening hours in order to treat a Haredi (ultra-orthodox) teenage girl who had been cruelly attacked in the Jewish region of the Williamsburg neighborhood, on the street corner between Bedford St. and Division Street.

The teenage girl told that she was innocently walking on the street, when a young woman in her twenties suddenly appeared behind her, kicked her, punched her in her face, while uttering hate slurs.  The shocked girl was injured and her nose and mouth bled.

Following a pursuit, the perpetrator was captured and handed over to the Police.  In Williamsburg, people say that it’s a grave and dangerous precedent, since up till now, those who have mainly been attacked were male Yeshiva students with an ultra-orthodox external appearance, but not girls, and the assailants were mainly men, rather than women.
