Antisemitic inscription at entrance to Public Park

Guastella, (Reggio Emilia), January 18, 2012. Graffiti and markings of a clearly Antisemitic nature have surfaced in the center of the City of Guastella, in particular on a wall facing San Ferdinando Street, near the entrance to the public park on Pascoli Street. They have appeared at the present time and have aroused a certain degree of concern. It possibly could be a stupid act of one young person who wanted to show-off. However, it also raises concern, in view of the particular day of the year and the events of Remembrance Day dedicated to the Holocaust and to a period of unhappy memories for the international community. This is particularly so in relation to the two words “Juden Raus”, meaning “Jews Out”, that arouse memories of terrible pictures of the 1930’s, of destroyed shops and inscriptions scrawled on houses where Jews lived.
