Britain – Violent incidents, November 2011 (5 incidents)

A young, visibly Jewish, boy was on the bus on the way home from school, and when he walked up the stairs to the top deck, his kippah was ripped off his head.

When the boy looked around to see who did it he could not identify the offender as the bus was full of young people. He later found the kippah had been thrown to the other side of the bus.

 

17/11/2011 Ilford, Essex

The reporter is a security guard at a Jewish school.

He was informed by the headteacher that a boy had been assaulted on his way to school.

The boy was approached by a group of youths who said “Are you Jewish” and then attacked him.

 

18/11/2011 Hendon, London

A visibly Jewish couple were walking home from friends on Friday night when the husband was hit with an egg.

When telling family about the incident after Shabbat, it was reported that the victims sister and niece were also hit with eggs at around the same time in the same area.

Neither victims got a description of the perpetrators.

 

20/11/2011 Radlett, Hertfordshire

The victim was leaving a Jewish event held at a Synagogue when some eggs were thrown at her. At least three eggs were thrown from a vehicle, one of which hit the victim. One of the occupants of the vehicle shouted “Mazel Tov” as they passed.

The victim did not manage to get a description of the car or the occupants.

 

24/11/2011 Salford

The victim (14) was cycling along the road when a blue VW Polo drove past and one of the occupants threw an egg at him, hitting him on the legs.

The vehicle drove off without the victim being able to make a note of the reg or take a description of the occupants.
