Yorktown – Yorktown police believe they have found the person responsible for drawing a swastika on a campaign poster Monday night.
Police arrested 17-year-old Gerard Giblin, 17, of Yorktown for aggravated harassment, a felony for allegedly drawing the antisemitic symbol on the forehead of Justice Ilan Gilbert on his campaign poster.
Police said they identified the defendant as a possible suspect based on a description provided by a witness, and in conjunction with a school resource officer, they were able to arrest Giblin.
Giblin was also arrested this past July after he allegedly stole beer from a Mobil station, and pushed and bit the clerk. Giblin was arraigned by Judge Sal Lagonia, however, not Gilbert when he was charged with the felony of robbery, and resisting arrest.
Gilbert found the symbol etched into his poster Monday night at the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce Debates at Yorktown Stage.
