2 teens admit to antisemitic graffiti vandalism

Los Angeles—Prosecutors say two 17-year-old boys have admitted to vandalizing Calabasas High School with antisemitic graffiti.

Deputy District Attorney Kristiana Dietzel says the teens on Wednesday admitted the charge of felony vandalism with a hate crime allegation in juvenile court. They were ordered to complete 100 hours of community service, pay $6,000 in restitution, attend counseling and attend a program at the Museum of Tolerance.

Doors, walls, sidewalks and a stop sign were spray-painted with swastikas, anti-Semitic and anti-black slurs and profanities directed at specific students and teachers in April.

The teens told investigators they felt mistreated and wanted to upset some teachers and classmates and weren’t trying to target any specific racial or religious groups.

A third 17-year-old returns to court on Nov. 7 for trial setting.
