Police investigate letters sent to synagogues

Ormond Beach, Fla. – Ormond Beach’s Beth Judah Messianic synagogue received a letter in the mail last weekend which included some anti-Jewish statements. That, coupled with an etching on the front doors of the synagogue which reads, “God loves the faithful ones – Brian,” caught the attention of law enforcement.

Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies said the letter made fun of the Jewish Faith and included derogatory comments directed to its followers.  Officials aren’t saying if it was a threat; however, around the same time, the Temple Israel synagogue in Daytona Beach received a similar letter including vulgar language.

A Beth Judah spokesperson said they’re keeping their eyes open, but aren’t calling this a threat.
