Designer Galliano faces second antisemitism complaint in Paris

PARIS – Troubled UK fashion designer John Galliano, who was briefly detained last week following an alcohol-fueled anti-Semitic rant in a Paris cafe, has been hit by a second complaint over his errant behavior, French newspaper Le Parisien reported Monday.

A woman filed a complaint over the weekend alleging that Galliano abused her in the same cafe in the French capital in October 2010, and also used antisemitic language, the report said.

“She said she was surprised by the attitude of John Galliano, who seemed to take against her for no reason,” a source close to the case told the newspaper.

“She recalled that the designer was in a drunken state,” the source added.

The woman did not pursue the matter at the time as she believed it was a result of him drinking too much. But she filed the complaint after learning about the incident last week involving an altercation between Galliano and a couple, in which he was accused of making antisemitic and racist comments.

Galliano was suspended as chief designer by House of Dior in the wake of the incident.

Galliano’s lawyer, Stephane Zerbib, was not aware of the new complaint when contacted by Le Parisien.
