On 9th April 2002, mass anti-Israel demonstrations were held on campuses around San Francisco. The largest of them was at Berkeley University. The demonstrators, Palestinians and people from other Arab countries, several hundred in all, “captured” a campus building and barricaded themselves inside while carrying posters and calling out epithets to passers-by and opposite the “Holocaust tent” that had been set up by a group of three Jewish students there.
