On 21st April 2002, the Chief Rabbi of Russia, who headed a delegation of World Jewish Congress in Brussels was attacked by a young person of Maghreb origin. The attack occurred near the Gare du Midi when the rabbi was on his way to a demonstration against antisemitism held on Clinique Street in the city. The rabbi was struck in the chest, called a “Dirty Jew terrorist” and robbed of his hat.
