On 13th, 14th and 19th April 2002, demonstrations were held in central Curitiba with the participation of members of the radical Islamic community as well as of radical leftist elements such as the PT (the Labor Party), the PSTU (the Socialist Labor Party) and the PCDOB (the Communist Party).
At these demonstrations placards were carried equating Sharon (shown as the Devil making the Nazi salute over the heads of dead Palestinians) with Hitler, as well as portraying a Star of David as killing Palestinian women and a child, with the silhouette of the Star of David appearing as a swastika.
