On 29 March 2002, during Passover, a young man burst into the synagogue in Lutsk and stabbed an elderly senior member in the face and head multiple times when the Jew tried to bar his entry. The attacker yelled antisemitic and anti-Israel slogans and fled the site when his victim screamed for help. The Jew was taken to the hospital.
