In late November 2001, a Jew was very violently attacked and was hospitalized in serious condition. The attack had been preceded by incidents which included thugs dressed in black stalking the man and his wife, threatening telephone calls and antisemitic graffiti smeared on the door of their flat. In addition to this the gravestones of the couple’s relatives in the cemetery in Minsk were desecrated.
