Advertising Campaign Against Neo-Nazis

In September 2001, an innovative advertising campaign was mounted all over the Czech Republic ridiculing Neo-Nazis and attempting to convince the public not to remain indifferent to the activities of the skinheads. A number of governmental and non-governmental institutions are behind the campaign, which is to continue until the end of the year.
In the advertisement which appears on television and on street posters, one sees skinheads leader raising the nazi salute as well as the words “Be nice to your local Nazi”. In the television clips the skinheads are portrayed in embarassing situations: a skinhead loses his arm when an elevator door closes on him while he is raising the salute, or two
skinheads are holding a clothes line for a housewife with their hands raised in the salute.
What is defective in this campaign is that tourists seeing the street posters who have not seen the television clips get the impression that neo-Nazis are actually behind the advertising.
