On 22nd May 2002, an article appeared in the Egyptian newspaper Al-Akhbar which claimed that…. “The Jews who have now gathered into Palestine from all over the world do not worship God, no matter what they claim. Not only that, they are the enemies of God, and the legend of the ‘Chosen People’, which the Jews living in Palestine have been trying to disseminate, has been shattered”. The author of the article goes on to ask “Isn’t the shedding of Palestinian blood a continuation of the crime Israel committed in the past when it shed the blood of Jesus…? Don’t the present acts of the raging bull Sharon mark the pinnacle of ignorance and sin? Such is the People of Israel. It has not changed and will not change”.
