Jurgen Mehlmann, the Deputy Chairman of the German Liberal Party, who had accused the Vice President of the German Jewish Community, Michel Friedmann, of fanning the flames of antisemitism, apologized and said that he had erred in what he said. Mehlmann’s words aroused angry reactions in Germany and in response to this Mehlmann published a letter to the Head of the German Jewish Community in which he admitted that what he had said was a mistake.
