Britain – Torah Scrolls Rescued From the Fire in Wales are Brought to Israel

Six of the torah scrolls from the synagogue in the town of Swansea, Wales that had been torched on 10th July by antisemitic thugs, were transported to Israel on 21st July on a special flight from Wales. This is the only synagogue in the town whose Jewish community numbers only about 80 souls. The transfer of the scrolls to Israel was initiated by the Swansea Jewish community, headed by the Rabbi of Cardiff, the Welsh capital. Four of the torah scrolls were contributed to the Israeli army by the Swansea Jewish community and will be placed at the Chaplaincy Corps base in Tsrifin. The remaining two will be donated to educational institutions; there is still no decision as to which ones.
