Russia – Harassment of a Prominent Jew at the Air Port in Novosibirsk

Policemen at the air port in Novosibirsk harassed the Director of the Russian Jewish Congress Boris Usherenko. The policemen claimed that he had been acting strangely, (hinting at the possible use of drugs) and searched his luggage. When it transpired that Usherenko is a prominent member of the Jewish community, one of the officials made some antisemitic comments such as “The Jews are controlling Russia”.
