On 15th January 2002, the German Minister of the Interior declared the “Hizb al-Tahrir” (Party of Liberation) illegal. The organization was accused of disseminating antisemitic propaganda on university campuses. The authorities claimed that the organization supports violent means in supporting their political objectives and that it opposes the State of Israel’s right to exist and has called for its destruction. The organization also incites to antisemitism, calling for the murder ot Jews.
