The home of Rabbi Kaplun, the Rabbi of Rostov and Southern Russia, was set on fire by vandals, most likely antisemites. The Rabbi’s children saw the heavy smoke and alerted their parents who evacuated them to a neighbor’s house, thus averting a tragedy. The house and its contents were severely damaged.
