Czech – Advertisement with Antisemitic Content Over Czech Television

Republic. The advertisement, for a company marketing gardening equipment, perpetuates the antisemitic stereotype that shows the Jew as greedy and avaricious. The heads of the Jewish community said that the caricature reminds them of the kinds of caricatures that that appeared in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s and that it was without a doubt blatantly antisemitic. The Israeli Ambassador to the Czech Republic Arthur Avnon also voiced his protest to the company. The gardening company’s Director said that the advertisement praises the business acumen of the Jews.
