Spain – An Article Comparing Moratinos to Chamberlain in a Leftist Magazine

On 4^th January 2005, an article appeared in the left-wing Spanish magazine Las Insignia written by Alberto Arce entitled “Is Moratinos the Chamberlain of the 21^st Century”? The article deals with the behavior of Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Moratinos regarding the State of Israel and its Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on the occasion of the 20^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Arce claims that Moratinos “is changing his skin” and has abandoned his traditional support for the Palestinians despite the Zionist conquest of the territories to the point where has become the Spanish Chamberlain. The article calls for an economic boycott of Israel and the prevention of closer ties between the two countries.
