Belgium – A Belgian Member of Parliament Opposes the Candidacy of Paul Wolfowitz as the Head of the World Bank

 



On 17th March 2005, Joseph Dubie of the Green Party expressed his opposition to the appointment of Paul Wolfowitz as Head of the World Bank. Dubie claimed that the appointment of Wolfowitz to that position is the same as appointing Adolph Eichmann as President of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. These remarks elicited sharp reactions ultimately leading Dubie to apologize for what he had said.
