Belgium – Violent Attack on a Jewish Youth in Brabant Wallon

On 25^th February 2005, a 15-year-old Jewish youth attending a boarding school in Brabant Wallon, was hit by another youth from the same school. The incident began when the attacker kept tossing things at the boy during a workshop session attended by the teacher and 13 other pupils. At one point, the victim had had enough and he approached the teacher to complain about what was happening. The attacker kept his eye on him from a distance, and when the victim sat down opposite the teacher the attacker shouted at him “dirty little Jew”. The victim shouted back that he would rather be a Jew than a failure. In reaction, the attacker punched the victim in the temple. The victim, who was in shock, was taken by the teacher for medical attention.
