Chile – Arrest of the Head of a Nazi Colony in Santiago

 



In a joint operation between the Chilean Police and Interpol, Paul Schefer, the leader of the Colonia Dignidad (an autonomous colony in which Nazi traditions are observed) was arrested on 1st March 2005. Schefer, who had served in the Nazi army during World War II and subsequently fled to Chile, was arrested after he had been wanted by the authorities on charges of pedophilia and the use of torture in the Colony during the Nazi regime.
