Britain – A British Department Store Chain Will Stop Marketing Antisemitic Books

The British department store chain, “Tesco” announced that it would remove copies of antisemitic books offered for sale over the firm’s Internet site. The decision was taken after the staff of the Searchlight magazine approached the owners of “Tesco” and said that they were shocked to discovered that the firm’s online shop was selling books such as “Hitler Whom We Love and Why”, “The International Jew”, and “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion”.

One of the representatives of the British Jewish community said: “It is shameful and unacceptable that one of the largest department store chains in the country should sell writings of this kind”. The “Tesco” chain replied: “We own about one million books on various subjects. We were sorry to hear that books that might hurt the feelings of some of our customers were available on our Internet site. We decided to remove them from the site immediately after the matter was brought to our attention”.
