Belgium – Antisemitic Caricatures on the AEL Website

The caricatures published in Denmark and all over Europe portraying the Prophet Muhammad aroused a wave of violent protests in the Muslim world. On 5^th February 2006, a Belgian-Dutch Muslim organization published a series of antisemitic illustrations over its website, also in reaction to these abovementioned caricatures. In one of the illustrations Anna Frank is shown in bed with Adolf Hitler. Two other illustrations cast doubts about the events of the Holocaust. The Arab European League (AEL) published these illustrations over its website www.arabeuropean.org where it was claimed that this was an exercise in freedom of expression and that the organization does not necessarily agree with the positions they represent.
