Argentina – An Argentine Catholic Bishop Declared that He would Lead a Neo-Nazi Conference in Prayer

On 12th July 2006, a controversial Catholic Bishop in Argentina said that he would lead the prayer service at a Neo-Nazi conference. This has caused some concern among the Catholic clergy.

In a television interview the Bishop made slanderous remarks about the Jews, claiming that most of the Jews are successful business people, but they hold very few moral values and deal in drugs, pornography and extortion. In reaction to this statement, the Argentine Government announced that it would cancel his salary and called on the Vatican to dismiss him from his post as Bishop and as a chaplain in the military. The Vatican, however, refused.
