Germany – Condemnation of the Conference

Chancellor Merkel denounced the conference stressing that attempts to claim that genocide of the Jews never happened reflects the dangers that the State of Israel is forced to face.
The German Foreign Ministry Spokesman said that “The German Government decries any attempt to deny the Holocaust and to cast doubt on the right of Israel to exist as an independent State. We, who live in the country in which the mass murder of the Jews was planned and executed, feel a special obligation to the memory of the victims of Nazi terror. It is in this context that we denounce any effort to provide a forum for the revisionists who wish to rewrite history in an unacceptable manner”. The spokesman went on to say that nothing of any scientific value will emerge from this conference.
The President of the Bundestag sent a letter to the President of Iran in which he sharply denounced “any attempt to promote antisemitic feelings claiming scientific freedom and objectivity”.
